Dr. Sachet Chandak completed his DNB Gastroenterology from the prestigious Bombay Hospital and Medical Research Centre, Mumbai under the guidance of Dr. Deepak Amarapurkar. After passing out he worked as a Senior Registrar in gastroenterology at the Jagjivanram Western Railway Hospital which has a reputation of one of the finest gastroenterology services in India.

He has worked as a Consultant Gastroenterologist for a year at the renowned Gujarat Cancer Research Institute (GCRI), Ahmedabad. Gastroscopy

A gastroscopy is a procedure where a thin, flexible tube called an endoscope is used to look inside the oesophagus (gullet), stomach and first part of the small intestine (duodenum).

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy (koe-lun-OS-kuh-pee) is an exam used to detect changes or abnormalities in the large intestine (colon) and rectum.

ERCP

ERCP is a therepeutic procedure used to remove stones in bile duct, stent insertion in cases of bile duct stricture, bile duct cancer and pancreatic cancer in which the flow of bile is obstructed.

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

Endoscopic Ultrasound is used to assess diseases of digestive tract, pancreas and hepatobiliary system. FNAC and biopsy of suspected cancerous lesions can be taken.

Metal stent placements

Metallic stent placement was clinically effective in the palliative treatment of gastric outlet obstruction in patients with gastric and pancreatic carcinoma.

Stricture Dilatations

Stricture dilation, or widening of a narrow bowel segment, is used for a variety of conditions, most commonly for esophageal strictures.

Banding

Banding is used for treatment of Blood in vomitus due to Esophageal varices seen in cirrhosis of liver. It involves applying circular bands on the enlarged esophageal veins which are bleeding or can bleed in future to treat them.

Although endoscopic cyanoacrylate glue injection (ECGI) is recommended as first-line treatment

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to eliminate varicose veins and spider veins. Sclerotherapy involves an injection of a solution (generally a salt solution) directly into the vein.

Hemoclips

Hemoclips are metal clips applied to bleeding vessels to stop bleeding and also to close mucosal defects after polypectomy. They are applied endoscopically and are very useful.

Polypectomy

Polypectomy is a procedure in which polyps (tumors) can be cut and removed endoscopically using special instruments and cutting devices. It saves the need for surgery in such cases.

APC

Argon plasma coagulation (APC) is a treatment modality used to treat bleeding in cirrhosis of liver ( for Gastric Antral vascular ectasia) and bleeding through rectum (in Radiation Proctitis)
